Ashalim Plot B_1200x570.jpg

The Megalim Solar Thermal Power Station, located in Ashalim, in "Ramat Negev" Regional Council, is one of the largest projects of its type in the world. It is also the first solar thermal or concentrated solar power (CSP) plant in Israel.

The project will include 50,600 computer-controlled heliostats with a surface area of over 20 m2 and spread across an area of over 3 square kilometers. The heliostats will track the sun in two axes and concentrate sunlight to a steam boiler on top of a tower in an overall height of approx. 250m, generating high-temperature steam and high-pressure which is then piped to a turbine to produce electricity.
